long life modified wood
is a solid wood that is completely non-toxic and has dimensional stability and durability able to exceed those of the best tropical hardwoods and is particularly suitable for outdoor applications.
WHAT IS ACCOYA®?
Wood generally contains large amounts of chemical groups called “free hydroxyls”, which absorb and release water depending on the changes of the climatic conditions to which the wood is exposed: this is the reason why it swells and shrinks.
Acetylation is a treatment that modifies the free hydroxyls in acetyl groups, making the wood react with acetic anhydride, derived from acetic acid (which in its diluted form is the kitchen vinegar). When the hydroxyl group is transformed into an acetyl group, the capacity of the wood to absorb water decreases considerably, giving it greater dimensional stability and exceptional durability.
Acetyl groups, composed simply of oxygen, hydrogen and carbon, are natural elements already present in all varieties of wood, as well as in humans and other mammals. This means that the transformation process does not include anything that does not happen naturally already within the material itself.
Final product, ACCOYA® wood, does not release toxins in the environment contrary to other common treatments that are limited to introducing into the wood chemical substances (such as oils, ammonia or metal compounds) or plastic.
We sell and delivery Accoya products throughout Sicily: Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Catania, Enna, Messina, Palermo, Ragusa, Trapani e Siracusa.
